Progress in electronic business processes for both commerce and administration has been enormous in recent years. This applies particularly to electronic invoicing as well.
The Forum for Electronic Invoices Germany (FeRD, www.ferd-net.de) brought together ambitious and dedicated visionaries and developers to create a standardized format for invoice transmission. This led to the creation of the ZUGFeRD format, which gained widespread adoption in Germany within just a few months. The format is also making waves in other parts of Europe—because its hybrid form (XML plus PDF/A 3) easily and efficiently integrates SMEs into electronic invoicing processes, and because ZUGFeRD was developed in an open and transparent manner outside traditional standardization frameworks.
For software developers working in digital business processes, ZUGFeRD has already become unavoidable.
The ZUGFeRD Community Developer Days aim to support this development pragmatically and with a future-oriented approach. The goal is to jointly identify and resolve obstacles and challenges in integrating ZUGFeRD and XRechnung (or the EU standard EN 16931) into user software, while also discussing new solutions and ideas for electronic invoicing to drive further collaborative development within the ZUGFeRD Community.
